A two week handball educational project to be facilitated by a local and a foreign expect is expected to take place in Monrovia, Kakata and Tubmanburg in November to expose the sport to a wider audience and participation, according to a release from the Liberia Handball Association.

LHA president Mason Saweler said the foreign expert is being sent by the International Handball Federation (IHF) and he would work along with a local expert to be identified by the Liberia Handball Association.

The release quoted Mr. Saweler as saying that the two-week course will have three phases to be held in the three cities already mentioned.

“We expect more than 100 representatives from every school that has a handball in its curriculum to send its PE instructor at each of the three phases,” he said.

Saweler said the LHA is sending out an open invitation to all schools, colleges and universities to send a candidate to the LHA for the seminar.

He said the two weeks’ course will introduce participants to the game and its fundamentals. “The participants after the course will be ambassadors of handball as the LHA takes the sport throughout the country,” he said.

President Saweler said the LHA will seek the support of the Liberia Coca Cola Bottling Company, Club Beer and other companies to make the seminar a success.

The Liberia Handball Association presently has its offices at the campus of the University of Liberia in Monrovia.
