Sporting activities intended to unify citizens of Buu– Yao Administrative District of Nimba County have begun across the district.
The Boris Barlea Peace and Reconciliation Tournament as it is called is currently going on across 54 towns and villages that make up the Buu–Yao Administrative District.
According to the organizing committee headed by Josephus Toe, the game is divided among three chiefdoms, each chiefdom representing a zone to be represented by four teams or towns.
The kick off took place in Teahplay Bouyealay, Nimkwai Chiefdom with 16 towns battling to be among the four teams to reach the grand final in Buutuo.
In an exhibition match, host Teahplay lost 0-1 to New Yourpea while the girls Gblarlay defeated the host 1-0.
The tournament continues in other parts of the district, with towns in Yoalay battling to be among the four teams that will represent the chiefdom or zone, while Nyor Chiefdom is also carrying out the qualifying round to select four to the grand finals in Buutuo later this year.
